With just one week until the special election for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts the two candidates meet Tuesday night for a final debate.

Democratic Congressman Ed Markey will stick to his cautious front-runner campaign strategy and try to avoid any miss-steps during the final time voters will have a chance to size up the candidates side by side.  Republican newcomer Gabrial Gomez has to stay aggressive in the opinion of political consultant Tony Cignoli

A poll published Sunday by the Boston Globe had Markey with a double digit lead after a couple of earlier polls showed the race tightening.   The third and final debate is at the studios of Boston PBS affiliate  WGBH.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
