Wednesday Is Voter Registration Deadline For Special U.S. Senate Election

The deadline to register to vote in the special Senate election in Massachusetts is today

Most city and town halls will stay open until 8pm to accommodate people who need to register to vote in the special election on June 25th.   Gladys Oyola, Election Commissioner for the city of Springfield does not expect to sign up a lot of new voters. She said interest remains low in the contest between Democrat Ed Markey and Republican Gabriel Gomez.

Markey and Gomez have three debates scheduled in the final 20 days of the campaign. They’ll debate in western Massachusetts on June 11th

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
