Sen. Warren "disappointed" in filibuster changes

BOSTON (AP) — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren says she's disappointed Senate leaders weren't able to come up with tougher changes to the filibuster rule that allows minority parties to bottle up legislation.

The Massachusetts Democrat had vowed to join with other Democrats to limit use of the filibuster — a move she said would help break gridlock in Washington by curbing the ability of Republicans to block votes.

Warren had said Senators who want to filibuster should be required to stand on the Senate floor and speak continuously instead of merely threatening to do so.

On Thursday the Senate's top Democrat and Republican leaders agreed to more modest changes, however.

Warren said in a statement Thursday that she's disappointed the changes aren't more extensive, but added that "some change is better than no change at all."
