A jury has found that a Vermont hospital was not negligent in the death of a 75-year-old patient.
Lois Vanderminden died at Rutland Regional Medical Center in 2006, days after she checked in showing symptoms of a blood supply restriction.
Experts testified that the condition was brought on by radiation therapy Vanderminden received the month before.
The Rutland Herald reports the case focused on potential liability of the hospital and its cancer ward after the radiation treatment.
Vanderminden's lawyer said she called the cancer center a week beforehand. He said the hospital prescribed her medication but did not instruct her to come in. He said by the time she got there, it was too late.
The hospital maintained that Vanderminden was told to come to the hospital.
