New York Governor Andrew Cuomo this week signed a bill honoring a slain library security guard in Rockland County.

Democratic state Senator David Carlucci’s bill designates a portion of State Route 45 in the Village of Spring Valley as the Sandra L. Wilson Memorial Highway. Wilson was stabbed to death in February, while working security at the Finkelstein Memorial Library in Spring Valley. Police said a 25-year-old man attacked the 52-year-old Wilson with a knife after she asked him to turn down his music. Democrat Ellen Jaffee sponsored the bill in the Assembly. There is no timeline yet on when the new roadway signage will be installed. Carlucci plans to have a dedication ceremony with Wilson's family once the signage is in place.
