A New York state lawmaker says a utility provider in the Hudson Valley has committed to removing graffiti in a city in Orange County.

Democratic state Senator James Skoufis says Central Hudson officials have assured him they would clean up and remove graffiti from their utility boxes in the City of Newburgh. Over the summer, Skoufis’ team went throughout the city identifying utility boxes, poles and other locations with graffiti or tags. Skoufis then sent a list to Central Hudson and asked that they commit to cleaning up their sites, and he secured that commitment this week. Skoufis has been conducting an ongoing cleanup effort throughout his 39th District, saying the beautification of communities uplifts both residents and small business owners.
