A New York state senator says he has secured a commitment to void parking fines for healthcare workers at a facility in Orange County.

Democratic state Senator James Skoufis says the commitment is from Metro-North, NJ TRANSIT, and LAZ, the operator of the parking facility at the Harriman train station. Skoufis says they will work with his office to address any parking fines healthcare workers have received for parking overnight at the Harriman parking facility. Skoufis says this was all prompted by an essential worker who received a citation for parking overnight at the train station, and she contacted his office to complain. The constituent is a nurse who works in New York City. After working overnight, she would return to the parking lot with citations on her car warning her about potential fines.
