Protest In Poughkeepsie To Stretch Across The Mid-Hudson Bridge

A protest is planned in Poughkeepsie Tuesday afternoon in the aftermath of the George Floyd death.

Organizers of “We Can’t Breathe” say the protest is also against the killings of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky in March and Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia in February. The protest begins at 4 at Harriet Tubman Park. On Facebook, organizers say they are protesting the fact that they keep dying for being black. The protest is planned to continue across the Mid-Hudson Bridge, and the New York State Bridge Authority is advising drivers to expect heavy delays and seek alternate routes between 3 and 8 p.m. Video of the Floyd incident last week shows a Minneapolis police officer kneeling on Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes, as other officers watched, with Floyd saying he couldn’t breathe.
