Pleasantville To Remember Family Of Four During Services

St. John's Episcopal Church, Pleasantville, NY

The Pleasantville Clergy Association says houses of worship will open their doors Sunday in memory of the Liu family. The vigil is to help the community cope with a December 6th murder-suicide in their village.

The mutual vigil, by request of local officials, honors the extended family's wishes to avoid a large gathering, which the family has expressed would be overwhelming for them. Police say 46-year-old Chuan-Kai Lui, known as Tom, used a knife to kill his 42 year-old wife Dorothy, 7-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter before killing himself. The vigil will take place at a synagogue and four churches, which will toll their bells at 7 p.m. Sunday. Those who do not gather at a house of worship are invited to place a candle in their window. Members of the Westchester Islamic Association, the Unitarian Universalists and the Foundation for Religious and Mental Health will also be present.
