White Powder Found In A Plane In Westchester Is Considered Safe

Authorities say white powder found on a plane Tuesday at Westchester County Airport was deemed non-hazardous.

The Westchester County Police Hazardous Devices Unit responded to the County Airport Tuesday morning after white powder was found in the cargo area of a Jet Blue plane bound for Orlando, Florida. Officials say that around 10 a.m., airport workers were loading baggage into the plane’s cargo hold when they saw five small plastic packages containing a small quantity of white powder. It is believed that the packages fell out of luggage that was in the cargo hold from another flight. Officials say the powder was neither hazardous nor a narcotic substance. They say the packages contained no identifying markings of any kind but are similar to a powdered aspirin product.
