NY-18 Candidate Proposes Tip Hotline Related To Terrorism Threats

A candidate in one of New York’s congressional races is renewing his call for a hotline for tips related to terrorism.

Republican James O’Donnell, who is running against Democratic Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney in the 18th District, believes a national hotline for tips for threats of domestic terrorism would help in such instances as the mail bombs sent this week to a host of prominent Democrats. O’Donnell, who served as a lieutenant with the New York State Police and Chief of the MTA Police during the September 11th terrorist attacks, was charged with implementing the “See Something, Say Something” campaign and fortifying the MTA’s transit facilities in the aftermath of the attacks. O’Donnell proposes establishing 1-800-FREEDOM staffed by counterterrorism officials.
