Hudson City Council Passes Sanctuary City Resolution

Wikimedia Commons/Daniel Case

The city of Hudson in Columbia County, New York is among the latest to pass a sanctuary city resolution.

The Hudson City Council has passed a sanctuary city resolution, formally entitled “Resolution Affirming Hudson as a Welcoming and Inclusive City.” The vote Wednesday was 10-1. A suggested sanctuary city framework was proposed by the Hudson City Democratic Committee and was discussed for months before the legal committee and city attorney drafted the resolution, which is based on New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s guidelines. Hudson joins other Hudson Valley cities such as Kingston and, more recently, Newburgh, as those with similar resolutions.
