New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Wednesday announced $25 million to fund rail and port improvement projects across the state. Two of the grants are for the Hudson Valley, both in Orange County.
Middletown & New Jersey Railroad will use $900,000 to rehabilitate track and install Positive Train Control equipment on locomotives. And Central New York Railroad Corporation will apply its grant of $630,000 to rehabilitate a bridge over the Delaware River. New York awarded 17 other grants, including two in the Capital District, where $2.6 million is for SMS Rail Services to rehabilitate 14 miles of tracks and siding. PanAm Southern will use $2.5 million to reconfigure and expand tracks at Hoosick Junction.
