Voters in the troubled East Ramapo School District in Rockland County Tuesday approved a capital bond. They also approved the district’s borrowing money for window and door improvements at two elementary schools.

Voters said yes to a $58 million bond for capital projects in the East Ramapo public schools to address aging infrastructure. According to unofficial results, 1,641 voted in favor of the bond with 375 opposed. School Board President Yehuda Weissmandl, in a statement, said the community has come together to move the district in the right direction. He says money will go toward roof replacements and renovations, window replacements, new boilers and heating for school buildings as well as upgrades to athletic fields. The school district is under the oversight of a state Education Department appointed monitor per legislation enacted in June.
