NYS DOH Works On Blood Testing Plan For Newburgh

WikiMedia Commons

The New York state Department of Health is working with federal partners to finalize details of a plan to have Newburgh residents blood tested for PFOS.

The state Health Department says it is working with such federal partners as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to develop a plan for blood testing in Newburgh. A spokeswoman says the health department is working to finalize the details of biomonitoring and will be releasing more information in the coming weeks. Elected officials from Congress to the local level along with environmental advocates have been pushing for blood testing in Newburgh. New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation in August declared Stewart Air National Guard Base a Superfund site in relation to PFOS contamination of Newburgh’s drinking water source, Washington Lake.
