Sailor Dies After Going Overboard In Hudson River

Police say a 49-year-old man has died after he went overboard from a sailboat near the Tappan Zee Bridge.

The Journal News reports (http://lohud.us/1iqGzxM ) it happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Westchester County Police Lt. James Luciano tells the newspaper police are still trying to figure out if the man fell off the boat or jumped.

He says investigators believe the man died of an accidental drowning. A probe is ongoing.

The man, who was not wearing a life vest, was one of three people aboard the 32-foot sailboat.

The victim's name was not immediately released, pending notification of his family.
