Federal Funding To Help First Responders In Westchester

Flickr

Federal funding is headed to first responders in two locations in Westchester County.

Nearly $450,000 is going to the Yonkers Fire Department and about $29,000 is for the Valhalla Volunteer Ambulance Corps to train first responders and purchase new equipment. New York’s two U.S. Senators, Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, announced the federal funding that was allocated through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The Yonkers Fire Department will use the money to train first responders on managing pediatric emergencies. This grant will provide funding for specialized pediatric programs to train personnel and purchase pediatric specific training equipment. The Valhalla Ambulance Corps will use the grant to purchase two cardio compression devices used to administer CPR.
