NYS County Execs Elect Astorino As President

WAMC Photo by Dave Lucas

The New York State County Executives' Association has a new president – from the Hudson Valley.

The County Executives Association Wednesday elected Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino as president. Here’s fellow Republican Ed Day, who is the Rockland County executive.

“I actually seconded the motion,” says Day. “I think it’s great. Rob has consistently shown himself to be an out-of-the-box thinker. He’s completely dedicated to tax relief. He’s shown that.”

The county executives meet throughout the year to discuss such issues as the state budget and legislative session. Other issues include property taxes, the county cost of Medicaid and Safety Net, and infrastructure needs. The New York State County Executives’ Association is an affiliate of the New York State Association of Counties.
