New Paltz Coalition Heads to NYC Climate March

The People’s Climate March in New York City is being billed as the largest climate march in history. So many Hudson Valley residents and groups are taking part in Sunday’s event, including from New Paltz.

Dan Guenther says 382 people will be aboard buses from Climate Action Coalition of New Paltz headed to the march in Manhattan.

“I’m super excited about the fact that New Paltz and its environs, they’re actually sending 11 buses. And that’s fabulous. We’re a relatively small community,” says Guenther. “And seven of them are coming from the Climate Action Coalition which I am a part of.”

He says a number of those going are students from the State University of New York at New Paltz.  And he has a message for those participating.

“We can’t go back to business as usual on Monday,” Guenther says.

The march begins at 11:30 Sunday morning and comes two days before a United Nations summit on the climate crisis.
