New York Gov. Hochul announces "parameters of conceptual" budget deal, two weeks after deadline

Clearwater Names New Executive Director

Clearwater

The New York environmental organization founded by the late Pete Seeger has a new executive director at the helm.

Hudson River Sloop Clearwater’s Board of Directors has named Peter Gross as the Beacon-based organization’s new executive director, effective immediately.  Clearwater board members say Gross, a resident of South Salem in Westchester County, brings extensive nonprofit and business experience to the environmental education and activism organization. Among his career accomplishments, Gross was part of the management team that transformed HBO into a major national network; he served as chair of Time-Life Video and co-founder/CEO of the largest private media company in China. He has also developed and staged concerts, including “In Transit,” which featured the best of New York City subway performers at Lincoln Center. Gross, an attorney, succeeds Jeff Rumpf, who left Clearwater in mid-2013.
