Two New York congressional representatives Monday will mark the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy at a site where storm debris was disposed.
Congresswoman Nita Lowey and Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, both Democrats, will join with lower Hudson Valley officials in Westchester County at the White Plains Recycling Facility known as the Gedney Yard, where Lowey will announce the total amount of Federal Emergency Management Agency Sandy recovery aid for Westchester and Rockland Counties. She will also recognize United Way of Westchester and Putnam for the assistance it provided the community in Sandy’s aftermath. Prior to visiting White Plains, Maloney will be in Orange County, at the former home of a New Windsor resident whose Butternut Drive property suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. Maloney worked to secure $1.8 million for damage sustained on Butternut Drive. Maloney also will announce the total amount of FEMA recovery aid for the Hudson Valley.
