Two of 26 grants to revitalize brownfield areas in New York State are headed to the Hudson Valley.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced $10 million in Brownfield Opportunity Areas grants for 26 communities throughout the state. Brownfields are dormant properties where the presence or potential presence of contamination has impeded site redevelopment. In Westchester County, Mount Vernon will see a more than $354,000 grant for the East Station Revitalization Plan to advance transit-oriented commercial development projects in an about 29-acre area with nine brownfield and vacant sites. In Dutchess County, the Village of Wappingers Falls is receiving some $333,000 to complete a revitalization plan to redevelop former factory sites in a 640-acre area with five brownfield sites.
