The Health Show #1107

By http://www.healthshow.org/

http://www.healthshow.org/ – In the 1990s, the US Food and Drug Administration claimed it had the authority to regulate tobacco as a drug. In 2000, the Supreme Court disagreed, saying the agency could not take such a step without Congressional authority. Cigarettes remained less regulated than cosmetics or pet food. All that just changed. On this week's Health Show, we'll talk about the law giving the FDA the final say on tobacco.

We'll also find out how woman may show very different symptoms than men while having a stroke. And we'll hear an oral history of the AIDS crisis in American, from a New England village that was on the front lines.
