In addition to onstage improv, Mopco has experimented for years with improvised films. This year's COVID lockdown presented an opportunity to explore the great advances in video capture and conferencing in a creative medium. We quickly realized that anyone can now learn filmmaking, learn about story creation and communication, and create a unique product while having real fun with other creative folks. Using your phone, laptop or pad, and Zoom meetings, we'll decide on a genre, sketch out a story line, and get right into shooting the film. Class members will learn hands on about all the parts of "real" film production in an accessible and playful process that is based on the principles of improvisation: be spontaneous, make your partner look good, and develop your ability to be a good listener and communicator. Whether you've always secretly fancied yourself a Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino, or Kathryn Bigelow, or just want to have some fun with other creative folks, you'll have a great time with this class! Disclaimer: The final product WON'T look like something by a Hollywood studio. But it'll be fun to watch and loads of fun to make!
