State Police Investigate Fatal Thruway Truck Crash

The state police Thruway detail is investigating the cause of a tractor-trailer crash in central New York that claimed the driver's life.

Troopers say the truck was traveling in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when the driver drifted off the highway's shoulder and hit the median guard rail and overturned in the Herkimer County town of Schuyler, just east of Utica.

Troopers on Thursday identified the driver as 37 year-old Travis Lambert of Belleville, Ontario. Police said the truck is owned by a company in Coteau Du Lac, Quebec.

The left lanes in each direction were closed for a time while the crash scene was cleaned up and the tractor-trailer removed.
