The Democratic primary race for mayor of Albany is down to two candidates.
The Albany County Board of Elections has invalidated petitions submitted by Black Lives Matter activist Lukee Forbes and community advocate Marlon Anderson. After examination, the board says Forbes had 249 valid signatures, Anderson 263, both falling short of the required minimum threshold of 300 signatures.
This leaves Valerie Faust as the sole party challenger to Mayor Kathy Sheehan, who is vying for a third term.
The BOE also says Richard-Olivier Marius, running for the 6th ward Common Council seat, came up short on signatures. The BOE adds Marius is taking the matter to court for a judicial review of the board's decision.
The Democratic primary is June 22nd.
