A former employee of General Electric in Schenectady, New York is under arrest and charged with conspiring to steal trade secrets from the company. Federal officials say 43-year-old Jean Patrice Delia of Montreal, Canada stole thousands of electronic files while employed at GE Energy, including proprietary tools used in the manufacturing of GE turbines.

Another suspect in the case, 40-year-old Miguel Sernas of Mexico City, was arrested and charged in January. Authorities says Sernas also previously worked for GE.

Delia and Sernas are accused of using the stolen information in their own company, ThermoGen Power Services, to compete against General Electric.

The charge filed against Delia and Sernas carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and three years of supervised release, according to a Department of Justice press release.
