New Albany Job Training Programs Launched

Three new initiatives aim to reduce poverty in New York state's capital city.

The Albany Community Action Partnership, the Albany Housing Coalition and the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society plan to spend a combined $400,000 on three different job training programs.

One is focused on helping workers get jobs as commercial drivers or medical administrative assistants. Another focuses on training former inmates for warehouse jobs while a third aims to support veterans looking for work.

The funding comes from the state, part of a $25 million effort to address poverty in 16 communities across New York.
