Off-duty Cop Hits Police Vehicle, Charged With DWI

National Police Car Archives

A police officer has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he slammed into a vehicle belonging to another law enforcement agency.

The Albany Times Union reports the town of Colonie Police Department says Monday that 26-year-old Kevin McKenna, a Troy police officer, was off-duty driving his pickup truck when he crashed into a marked police van at an intersection around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

No one was hurt. McKenna was charged with DWI. He’s been on the Troy force since 2015 and his superiors have relieved him of his duties pending an investigation into the crash.
