Tornado Touches Down Briefly In Scotia

The National Weather Service says an upstate New York village outside of Albany was hit by a brief tornado.

Officials say the EF0 tornado hit parts of Scotia in Schenectady County Tuesday afternoon. The 25-yard wide tornado had winds up to 80 mph and was on the ground for about a quarter-mile.

Residents and crews spent the rest of the day cleaning up from aftermath of the strong winds. The storm ripped the roof off of a storage facility and toppled several trees. Three people in a shed that was knocked over suffered scrapes and bruises.

Several hundred people lost power for a few hours after the tornado passed through.
