ADA Saratoga Tour de Cure Kick-Off Tonight

A kick off celebration for the American Diabetes Association’s Saratoga Tour de Cure — the premier cycling event in the Capital Region dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes and supporting all people living with diabetes and their families.

The event will include an overview of the 2014 Tour de Cure (Sunday, June 1st), which is ranked first in New York and second out of 90 tours nationwide in terms of total dollars raised. Last year’s Tour drew more than 2,400 participants and raised more than $1.25 million.  This year’s goal is $1.5 million!

Guest speaker is Patty Palladino of Manlius in CNY, who is fighting (along with her 9-year old Type-1 diabetic son Frankie) to get the School Diabetes Care Bill passed -

Dave Lucas is WAMC’s Capital Region Bureau Chief. Born and raised in Albany, he’s been involved in nearly every aspect of local radio since 1981. Before joining WAMC, Dave was a reporter and anchor at WGY in Schenectady. Prior to that he hosted talk shows on WYJB and WROW, including the 1999 series of overnight radio broadcasts tracking the JonBenet Ramsey murder case with a cast of callers and characters from all over the world via the internet. In 2012, Dave received a Communicator Award of Distinction for his WAMC news story "Fail: The NYS Flood Panel," which explores whether the damage from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee could have been prevented or at least curbed. Dave began his radio career as a “morning personality” at WABY in Albany.
