We start the night with Huston, TX native Julia Alsarraf, an RPI grad, who decided to stick around in Troy, making the rounds here in the capital region local music scene. Julia is a singer and multi-instrumentalist whose songwriting ranges from contemporary folk to indie pop/ rock. Her music has been described as deep, soulful, and vulnerable.  Julia was joined by Elizabeth Kasius on keys and Brian Melick on percussion.  Her vocals at this show were truly powerful and mesmerizing. You’re going to be really happy you listened. So enjoy, Julia Alsarraf recorded Live at the Linda’s Open For Take-Out Virtual Concert Series on March 8th, 2021.

Matt Nakoa is an award-winning singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Matt is a modern-day troubadour, making his home on the highways and concert stages of America. He appears regularly with folk music icon Tom Rush. Born on a small goat farm in New York State, Nakoa trained to me a concert pianist before accepting a scholarship to Berklee College of Music as a vocalist. Matt forged his dramatic songwriting with his college art-rock band, The Fens, and when the band dissolved he landed in NYC. There, in Manhattan’s all-night piano bars, Matt developed his uncanny ability to completely command the attention of his audience.  2012, and 2014 saw the release of his first solo albums, garnering multiple songwriting awards, including a win at Kerrville Folk Festival’s new folk competition. Nakao’s newest album, Casting Shadows, is a really cool spellbinding blend of pop, soul, and classical. It tells a story of childhood dreams crashing headlong into a grownup reality. So for your enjoyment, here is the one and only Matt Nakoa recorded Live at the Linda’s Open For Take-Out Virtual Concert Series on April 8th, 2021.

The impact of COVID-19 has been dire over the past year for working musicians.  The Linda: WAMC’s performing arts studio is trying to help do its part, with the Open For Take-Out Virtual Concert Series in collaboration with Chromoscope pictures. Open For Take-Out features the capital reigon’s home-grown musicians playing live on the Linda stage and viewable worldwide through Youtube.

We are honored and excited to bring musicians back to our stage in a safe environment and provide fans with a professionally produced concert delivered directly to your homes. Similar to our in-person concerts, these are ticketed events. And just like all concerts at the Linda, are presented with the highest standard of production and quality.

Coming up on the Open For Take-Out Series we welcome roots singer/songwriter Deb Cavanaugh and Dandelion Wine May 10th at 8 p.m. You can find tickets to this show and the rest of the series at thelinda.org. Keep up with is on Facebook @TheLindaWAMC and Instagram The_Linda_Performing_Arts.
