WAMC's Ian Pickus and resident quizzer Mike Nothnagel swap seats for an altered Halloween show.

Last week's challenge
Start with the phrase FINAL GAMES. Change one letter to an S and you can rearrange the result to spell a four-letter word a baseball umpire says and a six-letter word for a thing he might give to indicate that word. What are the words?
Answer: If you change the M to an S, you can spell SIGNAL and SAFE.

THIS WEEK'S CATEGORY: “ICK” OR “EAT”
On-air questions: OK, Mike. It’s the spooky season, but like everything else in 2020, Halloween will look a little bit different this year. Many communities are banning trick-or-treating due to coronavirus fears, while others say you should have two masks on this time around. For this week’s show, we’ll alter trick-or-treating, too. Each correct answer will contain either “ick” or “eat.”

1. What word can be found after the following names? American Airlines, Walter Kerr, Brooks Atkinson, Lunt-Fontane, Neil Simon.
2. What is the name of the man who lived at the U.S. Naval Observatory from 2001 to 2009, decades after studying at the University of Wyoming?
3. Featuring a guitar solo from Eddie Van Halen, what 1983 single produced by Quincy Jones was the third from the album “Thriller?”
4. Although he never won an Academy Award, what director who died in 1999 was nominated four times for Best Director, first in 1964 for “Dr. Strangelove?”
5. What is missing from this list? “This Side Of Paradise,” “The Beautiful and Damned,” “Tender Is The Night,” “The Last Tycoon” ?

Extra credit
1. Credited for building the Yankees’ dynasty of the 1990s thanks to several savvy moves as general manager, by what nickname was the 6-foot-2 former 10-year major leaguer Gene Michael better known?
2. The only movie starring both Robert de Niro and Al Pacino that fits the category.

This week's challenge
Start with a Halloween candy that rhymes. Rearrange the letters and you can spell a British title and a foreign stock exchange. What are the words, and what is the candy?

ANSWERS
On-air questions

1. Theater (these are all Broadway theaters, which will be closed until at least June)
2. Dick Cheney (Cheney was briefly acting president in 2002 when President George W. Bush was undergoing a colonoscopy and also served as White House Chief of Staff and Secretary of Defense)
3. “Beat It” (Also fitting today’s category is the Weird Al takeoff “Eat It” from the album “Weird Al In 3-D,” his first of seven platinum studio albums)
4. Stanley Kubrick (Kubrick is in good company with four nominations and no wins, joining Sidney Lumet and Fellini and Peter Weir)
5. “The Great Gatsby” (all of these are F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novels; “The Great Gatsby” has been adapted to film four times, but the first from 1926 is lost)

Extra credit
