Dr. Janet Currie, Princeton University – Stress and Pregnancy

In today’s Academic Minute, Dr. Janet Currie of Princeton University reveals the link between a woman’s exposure to stress during pregnancy and the probability of experiencing complications during labor and delivery.

Janet Currie is the Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University and the Director of Princeton’s Center for Health and Well Being. Her current research focuses on socioeconomic differences in child health, and on environmental threats to children’s health from sources such as toxic pollutants. Her work has appeared in a number of peer-reviewed journals and she serves as the Editor of the Journal of Economic Literature and on the editorial board of the Quarterly Journal of Economics. She holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
