Albany, NY – In today's Academic Minute, Dr. Michelle Budig of the University of Massachusetts Amherst reveals the financial cost of motherhood and why mothers consistently earn less.
Michelle Budig is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where her research interests include gender, labor markets, comparative work and family policy, and social inequality. She was awarded the Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Research Excellence in Families and Work in 2003, and in 2009 received the World Bank/Luxembourg Income Study Gender Research Award. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.
