Albany, NY – Rape was used as a weapon of war during Liberia's long civil war. The war is over, but an epidemic of rape continues unabated. At least one rape is reported in Liberia every day. Many more cases go unreported. Part of the reason is Liberia's criminal justice system. Police have no vehicles to investigate the crimes. Most victims are too poor to pay for long rides to get a medical exam or to testify at a trial. So, rape cases rarely make it to court. But for the past year, an organization in northern Liberia called EQUIP has been providing the wheels of justice - literally. But its money is running out and those wheels are grinding to a halt. Bonnie Allen reports

Despite all the women singers you can think of, less than five percent of the people working in the field of music production and recording arts are women. Audio engineering has traditionally been a man's world. And part of the reason for that is that many women find the technology intimidating. But the Women's Audio Mission is changing that, one student at a time. Founder Terri Winston spoke with me from their San Francisco headquarters, where they link to the internet, and women all over the world. She says teaching women audio engineering doesn't just benefit them.

And finally, as the world's empathy, concern and assistance pours into Haiti, there's a small group of traditional outsiders in Kosovo who have been waiting for years for global pressure to save them. Shay Clipson is a trustee of the UK Association of Gypsy Women. And she's trying to organize a trip to a camp of Romany people who are dying in what the world health organization calls the worst case of lead poisoning in the world.
