Volunteers Still Tackling Tornado Recovery

Western New England University’s Football team volunteering with Rebuilding Together at a house on Rowland Street in Springfield.

  Some people will skip a trip to the beach this Labor Day weekend to labor in tornado damaged areas of Springfield Massachusetts.  An official with the city’s long term recovery group says there is still a lot to be done to help people struggling to rebuild from the June 2011 disaster.  WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill reports.

Springfield Casino Vote Expected In 8 Months

The mayor of Springfield Massachusetts has outlined a process he intends to follow to evaluate competing proposals from casino operators anxious to build high end gaming, entertainment and hotel complexes in the city.  It’s a process that will lead to a binding voter referendum this Spring.   WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill reports.
