Hawaii – Researchers at the University of Hawaii are examining the role that language plays in young girls' confidence in their mathematic abilities. They are studying the language parents and children use while working together on mathematical tasks. The researchers are most interested in determining whether the language is different if the child is working with the father or mother.

Stanford, CA – Women are less likely to seek careers in computer science than almost any other scientific job. A team of researchers at Stanford University is trying to determine why this is the case and what schools can do to try and improve programs to encourage more women to stay in computer sciences.

Columbus, OH – Recent research offers a strong indication of the types of interventions that benefit girls' choices of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics...STEM careers. Although exposure to science throughout the K thru 12 curriculum is crucial, the middle school years appear to be the most pivotal time for girls.
