Chris Thile

    This Saturday, April 13th - acclaimed jazz pianist Brad Mehldau and singer/mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile will perform as a due at The Mahaiwe in Great Barrington, MA. It’ll be a rare and special evening with two of America's most groundbreaking young musicians.

Chris Thile began playing mandolin when he was 5 years old - a very quick synopsis of his musical life from then to now includes playing with Grammy award winning trio, Nickel Creek, releasing several solo albums, co-founding the progressive bluegrass quintet, Punch Brothers, and recording The Goat Rodeo Sessions with Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, and Edgar Meyer.

The 2012 MacArthur Genius join us to talk about collaborating with Brad Mehldau, sticking with the mandolin, and recording with The Goat Rodeo Sessions.

David Sedaris - One new book and three regional shows

Brian Selznick - "Hugo" at The Mahaiwe

New York Times-bestselling author and illustrator Brian Selznick will talk about his Caldecott Award-winning book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret and how it became Martin Scorsese's 2011 Oscar-winning film Hugo on Sunday at The Mahaiwe Theatre in Great Barrington.

Following a screening of the film, Selznick will participate in a Q & A with his Scholastic editor, Berkshire resident Tracy Mack, and then sign books.
