Sen-elect Warren Meets With Gov. Patrick

Massachusetts U.S. Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren met with Governor Deval Patrick Thursday as she prepares for her new job in Washington.   WAMC’s Paul Tuthill report.

After a closed door meeting that lasted for nearly an hour, senator-elect Warren told reporters she was grateful for what she called the “ good counsel” of the governor.

Amedore/Tkaczyk Race Goes to the Courts

In a race that could end up deciding which party controls the New York State Senate, the final vote count may not be in for two or more weeks. 

The new 46th senate district is nearly deadlocked with Republican Assemblyman George Amedore trailing Democratic School Board member Cecilia Tkaczyk by 139 votes with 7500 absentee and affidavit ballots due to be counted in the coming weeks.

GOP Chairman Says Saland is Not Out of the Race Yet

  Dutchess County Republican Chairman Michael McCormick says State Senator Stephen Saland isn’t out of the running just yet even though he lost on Election Day.

Democrat Terry Gipson was the top vote getter in a three way race, but McCormick said on Wednesday that Saland could still win when absentee ballots are counted.

“He’s down about 1,400 votes or so, plus or minus, and there are about 8,000 absentee ballots out there, so that’s considerable and I’m just hopeful that they break the right way for Steve Saland,” McCormick said.
