Habbina Habbina, led by guitarist Amit Peled, brings its signature style of Mediterranean surf music to Park Theater in Hudson, N.Y., tonight at 8pm. The trio takes its inspiration from Egyptian pop, Greek tunes as well as all sorts of retro-Mediterranean-hits, Dick Dale surf guitar, James Bond soundtracks, Umm Kulthum, Aris San and many others. Woodstock, N.Y.-native Simi Stone will be joined by guitarist Jack Petruzelli and Friends at the Local in Saugerties, N.Y., tonight at 7pm, to perform her patented style of original music she calls “Mountain Motown” -- an infectious, soulful blend of rootsy singer-songwriter music with a heavy dose of R&B. Stone is a multitalented artist with a background in classical violin, ballet, and various musical genres, including Afro-punk and dance music.

Kingston-based multi-instrumentalist and folk-pop singer-songwriter Francesca Hoffman and Hudson-based dream-pop singer-songwriter Stephen Bluhm showcase their homegrown sounds at Park Theater in Hudson, N.Y., tonight at 7pm.

Legendary downtown performance artist Penny Arcade brings the curtain down on Bridge Street Theatre’s 2024 SoloFest in Catskill, N.Y., with her one-woman show Longing Lasts Longer with three performances, tonight through Sunday.

Celtic baroque band Makaris brings its singular Irish-accented twist on the music of J.S. Bach to the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington, Mass., on Sunday at 4pm, in a presentation by Close Encounters With Music. Scottish music proved creatively productive and financially lucrative for several composers during the 18th century. Haydn and Beethoven alone arranged hundreds of these traditional songs for home performance. Makaris shows why this repertoire proved so popular with audiences and artists. (Sun, Mar 17)

Adventurous early music ensemble Ruckus, a shapeshifting group with a playful approach to classical music, brings its program, The Edinburgh Rollick: Music from the Niel Gow Collections, to the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass., tonight at 7pm. The concert explores the legacy of Niel Gow, eighteenth-century Scotland’s most celebrated fiddler. (Fri, Mar 8)

Nicholas Brooke brings his latest experimental theater piece, Ten Transcendental Etudes, to the Hunter Center at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Mass., tonight at 8pm and again on Saturday at 8pm, for a work-in-progress showing.

Grammy Award-nominated guitarist and songwriter Gary Lucas brings an eclectic program of music ranging from 1930 Chinese pop to Captain Beefheart to Jeff Buckley to Spencertown Academy Arts Center in Spencertown, N.Y., on Saturday at 7:30pm.

WAM announced its 2024 season yesterday and we’re going to hear about the planned productions and initiatives.Co-Founding Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven, friend of the program, recently abdicated that position and this morning we get to meet the new AD – Genée Coreno – she joins me in studio along with Associate Artistic Director Talya Kingston.

Touki Delphine, an artist collective of musicians, performers, and visual artists, brings its multimedia work FIREBIRD, inspired by composer Igor Stravinsky’s 1919 “Firebird Suite,” to the Hunter Center at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Mass., with viewings today and Saturday. The “rule-breaking” concert program includes an “orchestra” of light -- over 600 recycled car taillights sourced locally in the Berkshires -- that will illuminate the dance of the firebird.
