The 11 members of the Massachusetts District Attorneys Association elected Berkshire DA David Capeless as their president Wednesday. The Democrat says his top priority will be combating opioid abuse.

The Massachusetts District Attorneys Association recently backed Governor Charlie Baker’s proposed legislation aimed at curbing opioid abuse. The measures would restrict patients to a three-day supply of painkillers the first time they are prescribed an opioid drug, or when they receive a prescription from a new doctor.
