The Wawayanda Six Are Found Guilty

Six defendants, including actor James Cromwell, in a civil disobedience trial have been found guilty. They were accused of blocking access to a gas power plant under construction in Orange County.

On Wednesday, “The Wawayanda Six”, including Warwick resident James Cromwell and former Democratic New York state Senate candidate Pramilla Malick, were sentenced to each pay a fine of $250 and a $125 surcharge.

The six were arrested in December 2015 on charges of disorderly conduct after using civil disobedience to block access to the CPV Valley Energy Center site in Wawayanda. The six individuals had argued that their actions were necessary in defense of life. Cromwell said, “The extraction of fossil fuels has become, in this compromised environment, a crime against humanity."
