Vermont environmental officials will hold meetings Tuesday to provide the latest information to Bennington-area residents about the PFOA contamination of local water supplies and the ongoing response.

At 5 p.m., a community meeting at Old First Church at 1 Monument Circle will focus on the investigation into PFOA contamination in Bennington’s east side. Recently, a report by scientists from Saint-Gobain claimed the company could not connect its facilities to the pollution found in areas east of Route 7A.

A second meeting will be held at Bennington College at 7 p.m. where officials will give an update on the construction of PFOA-free municipal water line extensions to homes with contaminated wells. The construction is being completed as part of a consent agreement with Saint-Gobain and the state of Vermont.
