An economics professor from Vassar College has been selected as interim president of Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.

Dr. David Kennett has been named as Mount Saint Mary College interim president, effective immediately and for a two-year term. At Poughkeepsie-based Vassar College, Kennett served as the Elizabeth Stillman Williams Professor of Economics. James Raimo, vice president for facilities and operations at Mount Saint Mary, had been serving as acting president since April. He stepped in when President Dr. Anne Carson Daly, citing serious family-related issues, stepped down. Now, the college’s Board of Trustees will begin the search committee process for a longer-term president. Mount Saint Mary had been in the headlines for controversial administration and board decisions prior to Daly’s departure.
