Trash turned to energy in Pittsfield

Pittsfield, Ma – In a traditional garbage dump, waste will sit in a landfill decomposing over time, this method uses up a lot of land, and releases massive amounts of methane gas into the atmosphere. In Northern Berkshire County, garbage is converted into usable energy. WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief Charlie Deitz reports from Covanta Pittsfield .
