Teachers in Burlington will not be going on strike on Wednesday after the union and school board have agreed to meet with a mediator.
The teachers had voted last week to go on strike Wednesday if the board didn't return to the negotiating table and reach a settlement.
The school board and teachers' union plan to meet with the mediator on Wednesday.
The teachers' union said Tuesday that it will be ready to negotiate a contract that at least covers this year.
The union says if no agreement is reached, the strike will start Thursday.
