Styrofoam is now banned at restaurants throughout Albany County.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy signed a measure county legislators passed in August banning the use of Styrofoam in all food establishments in the county.

"On top of that, I signed executive order holding Albany County to the same standards, meaning that every vendor that we do business with at our nursing home our jail, our county buildings, will have to abide by this new law, local law L," said McCoy.

McCoy signed a Styrofoam ban into law in December 2013, but it came with restrictions and only applied to businesses with at least 15 locations nationally.
