SPAC

Saratoga Performing Arts Center, located in the historic resort town of Saratoga Springs in upstate New York, has established a reputation as one of America’s most prestigious summer arts festivals. Its tranquil setting in a 2,400-acre park preserve surrounded by hiking trails, geysers, and natural mineral springs draws vacation crowds and arts connoisseurs each year to SPAC’s summer programming.

The historic annual summer residency of New York City Ballet lights up SPAC’s stage in July featuring performances of classic masterworks and exciting new repertory. Longtime resident company The Philadelphia Orchestra, known worldwide for its legendary performances with fabulous guest artists, and second-year resident company The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, featuring an impressive roster of classical chamber musicians, provide a haven for classical music aficionados every August. The Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival kicks off summer with a relaxing two-day, two-stages celebration of jazz featuring Erykah Badu, Maze with Frankie Beverly, and more.

National Ballet of China will make its SPAC premiere with three performances of its original work The Peony Pavilion in 2015. This season will also include special engagements by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (known as “America’s Choir”) and Lar Lubovitch Dance Company (led by “one of the ten best choreographers in the world” according to The New York Times); concerts by Live Nation; and productions by Opera Saratoga. The final curtain of the SPAC season comes down in early September with the annual Saratoga Wine and Food Festival, one of the fastest-growing wine and food events in the nation.
