Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren will deliver the keynote address at Berkshire Community College’s 55th commencement ceremony Friday afternoon. C-SPAN will air Warren’s speech at later date. The Massachusetts Democrat has gained national attention since joining the Senate in 2013 with progressives urging her to run for president. BCC President Ellen Kennedy says Warren’s focus on lowering student loan debt makes her a champion for middle-class families.

“It’s stopping people from buying homes and cars,” Kennedy said. “It’s keeping people from actually being able to take risks and chances with their careers because the debt responsibility is so high.”

The ceremony starts at 4:30 Friday at Tanglewood. About 330 people will be receiving a certificate or associate’s degree. The event is open to the public.
